A Delightful Garden

Anyone with an interest in gardens should consider taking a tour of Lotusland, a unique botanical institution not far from the Biltmore. It was formerly the estate of Madame Ganna Walska, an eccentric horticultural enthusiast and jewelry collector who transformed her estate into a fantasy of plants. There are many other wonderful places to stay in the Santa Barbara area, such as San Ysidro Ranch in the hills above Montecito or the Canary Hotel downtown off of State Street, but the three choices listed above are all located in close proximity and offer the ability to stroll back and forth from the beach to the shops and cafes of Montecito.
